Feast for the Supreme Ritual Monday, Feb 25 2008

Celebrate the beginning of the Thelemic New Year with us at Tamesa Oasis on Saturday 15th March from 3pm onwards.

The Feast for the Supreme Ritual, usually observed on March 20th of each year, is a commemoration of the anniversary of Crowley’s successful performance of the Invocation of Horus in Cairo, which brought about the opening of the New Æon.

We will be preforming the Invocation of Horus followed by a feast for the festival. Please bring food and drink to share for the feast.

1st Anniversary Celebrations Monday, Nov 26 2007

I cannot believe it has been a whole year already since that very first Tamesa Oasis meeting. I am so very thankful to everyone who has attended our events, officered initiations, funded our endeavours, brought food, drink, wine, laughter, built furniture, traveled for miles and miles to be here, washed up, set up, cleaned up and just been here. A local body isn’t its body master, it isn’t its location, it isn’t its name, its the brethren grouped together within those things and each and everyone of you have made Tamesa in this last year.

And we have had a brilliant time putting it all together. Its been tiring, at first it was incredibly stressful but I love my brethren and I love being at the centre of something as good as Tamesa Oasis.

We had cake in the shape of a fleur-de-lys!

To mark our first anniversary we performed an Isis invocation as the name Tamesa is the Celtic name for the river Thames which is known as the Isis further along it. We now have a lovely new Isis statue as part of our temple and this morning, after we had performed the invocation, we took her down to the river’s edge and bathed her in the waters.

Here’s to another year!

Mithras Ritual Tuesday, Oct 16 2007

All O.T.O and E.G.C members are invited to join us on Saturday 8th December 2007 in performing a group ritual adapted from a ritual from the 4th century AD to the pre-Christian solar deity Mithras.

The temple will be transformed into a Mithraeum, the traditional temple of Mithras worship centered around the Tauroctony, an artistic depiction of the god slaying the sacred bull from which wheat and seeds came forth and created all the loveliness of nature.

More information on Mithras can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mithraism

And details of our Mithraic celebrations form last year can be seen on this page of our website.

If you would like to take part in this ritual please contact us at the Tamesa Oasis secretary for more information.

Tamesa Oasis 1st Anniversary Sunday, Oct 14 2007

Saturday 24th November 2007 marks one year since the first meeting of Tamesa Oasis.

The name Tamesa comes from the original Celtic name for the river Thames and means ‘the dark one’ or ‘dark Isis’.

To celebrate this we will be performing a group invocation of Isis from an original ritual used at Cefalu. Since it is an Isis invocation, there will be an Egyptian theme to the proceedings and attendants are encouraged to wear Egyptian themed clothing for the day.

Please come along from 4pm, we will be having a small celebratory feast following the ritual for which contributions would be very welcome. It wouldn’t be an anniversary without cake and balloons now would it!
